Brisbane land is nearly 50% undeveloped or partially developed with most of that being found on landfill in the Baylands and on the Sierra Point Peninsula.

Sierra Point Update:

The Sierra Point Peninsula with 105 acres in Brisbane and an additional 25 acres in South San Francisco is the home of the award winning 567 berth Brisbane Marina and several office buildings totaling approximately 775,000 sq. ft. including the U.S. headquarters of Hitachi America, Ltd., 50,000 sq. ft. of a 210 room hotel (Radisson) and a 117 room hotel (Homewood Suites by Hilton). The site is planned for more than doubling the office space, developing commercial space on the eastern shoreline, and building nearly 900 additional hotel rooms.

Baylands Update:

The Baylands is approximately 600 plus acres which is unplanned, but which has been general planned for mixed commercial uses including retail. Before permanent uses can be built, a Specific Plan for the site must be approved by the City. Both the Baylands and Sierra Point were put in redevelopment project areas so tax increment public financing is available to facilitate their development.

One Quarry Road Update:

The One Quarry Road Project is a proposal to discontinue the use of the site as a quarry and recycling operation, implement a reclamation plan for the quarry slopes and construct 183 residential units, 28 of which will meet criteria for affordable housing. The project would include a soccer field, dedication of Quarry Road for trail purposes, approximately $73,000 per year for habitat restoration on San Bruno Mountain and approximately $7.2 million to the City of Brisbane for community benefits. Of the 144.4 acres at the site, residential units would occupy approximately 18 acres with an additional 9 acres for roadways. A 2.7 acres City Park and a 0.29 acre tot-lot are included in the plan. A total of 108 acres of open space, including 58 acres of San Bruno Mountain, 43 acres of reclaimed quarry slopes, the park, tot-lot and landscaping is proposed. The City Council's desire to afford residents of Brisbane an opportunity to participate in significant decisions concerning the future development of the Quarry Property prompted the Council to adopt Resolution No. 2001-46, committing the City Council to place any land use entitlements that may be granted for the One Quarry Road Project on the ballot for approval by the voters. The required approvals include a City General Plan amendment and agreements for annexation to Brisbane among other things. There is no assurance that this proposed project will actually happen.
